David Cyril Eric 'Dave' Swarbrick 'Swarb' nació el 5 de abril de 1941 en New Malden, Inglaterra.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

Es uno de los grandes violinistas de la escena del folk inglés, fundamental en el desarrollo del folk-rock a partir de su trabajo con Fairport Convention.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

Además toca la viola, la mandolina, la guitarra y canta.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

Ha participado en infinidad de grabaciones y grupos destacando su paso por &lt;b&gt;The Beryl Marriot Ceilidh Band&lt;/b&gt;, &lt;b&gt;The Ian Campbell Folk Group&lt;/b&gt;, el dueto con &lt;b&gt;Martin Carthy&lt;/b&gt;, su afortunada incorporación a &lt;b&gt;Fairport Convention&lt;/b&gt;, con &lt;b&gt;Whippersnapper&lt;/b&gt;, &lt;b&gt;Alistair Hulett&lt;/b&gt;, &lt;b&gt;Simon Nicol&lt;/b&gt; y &lt;b&gt;Swarb's Lazarus&lt;/b&gt;.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

El periódico Daily Telegraph publicó en 1999 un prematuro y precipitario obituario sobre Swarbrick luego de que ingresó a un hospital por una infección en el pecho, afortunadamente fue un lamentable error del diario.  Después de muchos años con la salud delicada a causa de un efisema pulmonar, en octubre del 2004 recibió un doble transplante de pulmones lo que le permitió una mejora sustancial en su calidad de vida que había estado confinada a una silla de ruedas por varios años.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

El 10 de agosto del 2007, Swarb se unió a un reformado Fairport Convention para tocar en vivo completo el mítico álbum &lt;span style="color:blue;"&gt;Liege and Lief&lt;/span&gt;.&lt;br&gt;

Para poder disfrutar a Swarb seleccioné &lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-style: italic;"&gt;Heilanman/Drowsy Maggie&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt;, del disco &lt;span style="color:blue;"&gt;Swarbrick&lt;/span&gt; de 1978, por el excelente dueto que hace con &lt;b&gt;Beryl Marriot&lt;/b&gt; (su tutora y quien lo convenció que tocara el violín en vez de la guitarra) al piano, en el cual se permiten tocar un par de jigs libremente, sobreponiéndose y completándose uno al otro, en una pocas veces vista combinación entre fiddle (violín folk) y piano, que ellos venían ejecutando desde los tiempos del grupo de Ian Campbell.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;






De &lt;b&gt;Fairport Convention&lt;/b&gt; escogí &lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-style: italic;"&gt;The Eynsham Poacher&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt; una de mis piezas favoritas de Fairport que se incluye en el disco &lt;span style="color:blue;"&gt;The Bonny Bunch of Roses&lt;/span&gt; y donde podemos escuchar a Swarb echándose al grupo al hombro en una especie de cabalgata cíclica.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

En 1978, a la par de de su partida de Fairport, Swarb graba un disco como &lt;b&gt;Dave Swarbrick &amp; Friends&lt;/b&gt;, titulado &lt;span style="color:blue;"&gt;The Ceilidh Album&lt;/span&gt;, en el que se hace acompañar del mismo Fairport, Beryl Marriot y algunos otros camaradas, dentro del cual destaca &lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-style: italic;"&gt;Merry Boys of Greenland / Olifiord Jack / Villafjord&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt; demostrando una conjunción musical a partir del divertimiento de tocar juntos.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

Finalmente, a dueto con su viejo camarada &lt;b&gt;Martin Carthy&lt;/b&gt; una exquisita balada llamada &lt;i&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(204, 0, 0); font-style: italic;"&gt;Gentleman soldier&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/i&gt; del disco &lt;span style="color:blue;"&gt;Byker Hill&lt;/span&gt; de 1967, donde ahora el fiddle y la voz se acompañan con un ritmo que sólo lo da el tocar juntos por mucho tiempo.

Ashley Simon Hutchings 'Tyger' nació el 26 de enero de 1945 en Southgate, Londres, Inglaterra.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Está considerado como el padrino del Folk-Rock en Inglaterra.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Siendo todavía un niño se mudó a Muswell Hill. Formó varios grupos, incluido "Dr K's Blues Band" en 1964. Cuando conoció al guitarrista Simon Nicol, ensayaban en el piso sobre el consultorio médico del padre de Nicol. La casa se llamaba "Fairport" y ese sería el nombre del grupo que juntos formarían mas tarde.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

Tyger ha tenido la posibilidad de formar mas grupos que ningún otro bajista. Los mas famosos han sido Fairport Convention, Steeleye Span (formado luego que dejó a Fairport en 1970) y el siempre cambiante Albion Country Band (formado luego que dejó a Steeleye en 1971). Ha grabado varios álbumes temáticos con músicos de sesión reunidos tanto del espectro de la música folk como del rock siendo asímismo, el productor de varios de ellos.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

Una serie de discos llamada The Guv'nor colecciona grabaciones raras de algunos grupos relacionados con Hutchings. En el 2004 se retira de The Albion Band y regresa como parte de un cuarteto, llamado Rainbow Chasers.

Como parte de mis trabajos de curaduría musical, he preparado una colección de 400 discos LP que, transformados al formato digital voy a donar a la fonoteca de &lt;span style="color:blue;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Radio Educación&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt; para reforzar el género.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Este trabajo ha sido muy rico y me he reencontrado con esta música que tanto me prende y cuyos gloriosos acetatos estaban a la espera de un buen programa para convertirlos a archivos .wav.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
&lt;i&gt;Raúl Núñez&lt;/i&gt; y &lt;i&gt;El Pitufo (Toño Fernández)&lt;/i&gt; me descubrieron tiempo atrás el &lt;b&gt;CoolEdit&lt;/b&gt; (Ahora &lt;b&gt;AdobeAudition&lt;/b&gt;) que me ha ayudado a hacer la transferencia al nuevo formato.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
El trabajo ha sido arduo y ha consistido en:
&lt;ol&gt;&lt;li&gt;La selección musical (originalmente 100 títulos, después 200 y finalmente 400)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Desarrollar la versión 3.0 de &lt;b&gt;Fono1060&lt;/b&gt;, la base de datos que utilizamos en &lt;span style="color:blue;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;RE&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt; para clasificar los discos y elaborar la programación musical diaria&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;La grabación, lado por lado, de los LPs&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;La separación track por track de todas las rolas de cada uno de los lados&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;La obtención de la portada de cada disco (a veces en internet, otras escaneando en 4 partes la original de c/LP)&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Cargar la base de datos y clasificar cada pieza&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Grabar en CD cada LP transferido a archivo .wav&lt;/li&gt;&lt;/ol&gt;Espero que la colección pueda ingresar a la fonoteca de &lt;span style="color:blue;"&gt;&lt;b&gt;Radio Educación&lt;/b&gt;&lt;/span&gt; a finales de mayo del 2009.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;
Mientras tanto irán apareciendo en este blog algunas de las portadas de los discos, con su intérprete y su año de producción.
